MY OTHER KIDS

I know that my last few posts have been all BEN, BEN, BEN! But I just want everyone to know that I do love Porter and Paige just as much, so here is a post just about them. We just had parent/teacher conferences, and as usual we heard nothing but good things about both of them. My kids are so awesome!

They are both having a great year so far at school. Paige especially has a lot going on. She got voted onto the student council this year, and will be representing her class during the second semester of school. She is also participating in KIND Club (Kids In Nature's Defense) where they do things like service for the Humane Society, rolling and recycling plastic bags, work in the school's environmental lab, etc. We also got a note saying that Paige has been identified as a potential HAL student (High Ability Learner). Her teacher is going to be modifying her work to make it a little more challenging and has also assigned her some extra projects to do throughout the rest of the year. Toward the end of the year Paige's teacher and the other teacher's involved in the HAL program will decide (based on her schoolwork and standardized test scores) if she will get into the program or not. Matt and I were a little shocked.........she always gets good grades, but we usually think of her as more socially inclined than academically.

Porter is also enjoying school this year. He is our little smartypants and got all A+ and one plain A on his report card. He is in the HAL program and really enjoys the extra projects on interesting topics and field trips they get to take. Porter loves to sing, so he was excited to get to participate in the Saturday chorus this year. It was made up of 5th and 6th graders from all the Bellevue schools, and they met every Saturday for a month to practice and then had a concert.
There weren't very many boys participating, but luckily one of them was one of his good friends from church so that helped make it more fun for him. He really enjoyed and they sounded great. Plus they served refreshments afterward which always makes activities more enjoyable.

Okay, there, now I have bragged about all my children, so I can stop feeling like a neglectful mom.
