NEW PETS

As we were getting ready for church two Sundays ago, Matt found me and told me he had something that he needed to show me outside.  His tone was weird so I was a little worried, especially since he wouldn't let any of the kids come with us.  So he took me out back to ask my opinion about this little discovery:

He had seen a bunny digging on our bottom tier and had chased it away several times.  He went out with the hose to water the flowers and he said when he shot a stream of water at this plant it started moving.  So he went to check it out and found this nest of baby bunnies.  That bottom picture reminds me of looking at an ultrasound picture......where are the eyes......where are the ears......the legs........

Matt was so torn!  He really did not want bunnies anywhere near his garden, but how can you do anything that would possibly hurt the sweet things.  They were such a cute pile of hairless wiggly little bodies.  We figured we had to leave them alone for now and hopefully by the time they are out and about they won't be able to do too much damage to the garden.

The kids thought it was the coolest thing and have been out to check on the bunnies everyday. 

Matt checked online and read that touching the bunnies won't hurt them or make the momma not want anything to do with them.  So he picked one up last night and about scared the poor thing to death.

But seriously, how cute is that bunny?????  We laughed so hard when Matt put it back because the bunny seriously shoved his way through all his siblings to bury itself at the bottom of the pile where we couldn't get to it anymore. 

That is a picture I took last night........about 8 days after we first found them. Matt thinks there are six of them.  They are getting really big and hairy.  So anyway, if you are in the neighborhood and want to bring your kids by to see some baby bunnies I know my kids would love to show off their temporary pets.
